Ultra-Fast Sodium Batteries: A Game Changer

Scientists at a well-known Korean science institute developed a new form of sodium battery that charges quickly. This revolutionary battery could replace existing lithium-ion batteries. It's a hybrid sodium-ion battery, which stores a lot of energy (247 Wh/kg depending on the electrode) and releases it quickly (34,748 W/kg). This breakthrough is exciting because it could improve many things, like electric cars, small electronic devices, and airplanes, by letting them charge in just a few seconds or minutes.

The team of researchers, led by Professor Kang Jeong-gu from the Materials Science and Engineering Department, made this new battery by using a special method to create the electrode material. They used two different kinds of metal-organic frameworks. This new hybrid sodium-ion battery could be used in many electronic devices, including electric cars.
